Where to Find Hidden Mickeys & Other Characters in the Movies

As if Walt Disney Classic movies weren’t cool enough, one interesting fact is the number of Easter eggs you’ll find in all Disney movies. Below are a few examples of what to look for.

For hidden Mickeys, you can usually count on finding them in scenes that include water. Basically anything that can ripple or look like a bubble has usually been stealthily drawn to represent a Mickey Mouse head. As for characters, they are typically blended into the shots, so you’ll find them as part of a crowd. In some cases, they have been obviously used. Here are a few examples of what you might see, courtesy of Mental Floss (Mental Floss, 2013):

Characters

In The Little Mermaid, you can see Goofy, Donald, and Mickey in the crowd when King Triton has his opening scene.

In Aladdin, when the Sultan is playing with his toys and building a tower, the Beast is one of the toys.

In Hercules, when Hercules is being painted on a vase with a lion’s head, the lion is Scar from The Lion King.

In Tangled, Pinocchio can be found in the rafters in the pub.

Hidden Mickeys

The bubbles in Cinderella, during the Sweet Nightingale song form a Mickey head

In 101 Dalmatians, a few spots on Pongo are shaped as a Mickey head.

In Sleeping Beauty, the fairy Merryweather has a biscuit shaped like Mickey.

In Dumbo, when Dumbo is having a bath, a few bubbles form a Mickey.

In Oliver and Company, Fagin’s first wristwatch is a Mickey Mouse watch.

These are just a few samples of Easter eggs placed in some of the movies. There are tons more, and now that you know what to look for, here’s an interesting game to play with some friends – watch a Disney movie and see if you can pick out all the hidden Mickeys and characters from other movies! If you want to know where to find them, you can search Disney online and there are a few sites that have extensive collections.

Have fun :-)

  1. I also looove all of the nods to Disney movies in the movie "Enchanted", if you ever have the chance to write a blog on that!

For instance, Robert's secretary is the woman who voiced Ariel, the name of the firm
You can hear a small instrumental part of "Part of Your World" while Giselle is looking in the fish tank, Giselle looks through the gems she's using for the Prince doll at the beginning which is the same as when Dopey does it in Snow White, etc.

    1. *the name of the firm (sentence got accidentally cut off)....that Robert works for, is named for the three song writers/composers from early Disney works.
